1. I enjoyed reading the story because I like stories that inculde a character that everybody
makes fun of  and  is unappreciated.  In end the character does something that makes even one of the other characters change his mind about him even if it's the smallest change. Mr. Kelada was able to change a little bit the narrator's attitude from disliking him to not entirley disliking him.

2. I found that the fact in which no one knew the truth is upsetting .The truth that Mr. kelada lost in the bet on purpose in order to help Mr. Ramsay.   It's annoying  that no one, except the narrator knew the truth that Mr. Kelada right and he just lied to protect Mrs. Ramsay's marriage and that everybody was laughing at him.

3. The thinking skills helped me understand why the characters acted like they did.
For example, the explaining patterns thinking skill helped me understand why Mr. Kelada
was so friendly and familiar to everybody and that's beacuse he wanted them to accept him.
Morever, the uncovering motives helped me to understand why Mrs. Ramsay did not want
to tell the truth about the pearls, so she could hide from her husband that she was cheating on him.
In conclusion, the thinking skills help us to understand the behavior of the characters.

 post-reading activity - a new ending to the story


After Mr. Kelada lost  the bet, everybody was laughing at him and mocking him,
 "the big pearls expert lost a bet about perals". Mr. Kelada was insulted and he felt like
he lost his dignity and he got more and more dippressed.

The narrator who saw and knew the truth couldn't stand it and he felt like he had to do
something about it. The narrator could'nt see the people  laughing at Mr. Kelada and him
suffering  from that. The narrator went to talk with Mrs. Ramsay. He told her that she must tell
the truth to her husband beacuse Mr. Kelada is insulted. Mrs. Ramsay decided to do the right
thing in order return Kelada's dignity.

After the conversation between the two of them, Mrs. Ramsay went to tell the thruth to her
husband , that she was cheating on him and that Kelada lied to protect her. As a result, the
 truth had been spread. Kelada got back his honor however, Mr. Ramsay becam a joke and everybody was disrespectful to him.

Mr. Ramsay couldn't handle  the fact that his wife was cheating on him and  the mocking comments of everybody on the boat. He got so mad that he took his shaving knife and turned
to slaughter his wife. Somehow, his wife escaped from him and ran to Kelada's room for protection.
   Kelada stopped him after a struggle between them and became a hero that everybody respected and liked.
