Inroduction to poetry
There are two ways to study a poem, one is by studying it as fast as possible and without much of personal interpretation and point of view. And the second way is more slowly and relaxed in which you take your time to understand the poem by yourself and with your own tools and point of view.
I personally think that the right way to read a poem is the second one Because in that way we get to the meaning mostly by ourselves and by that we practice our thinking skills and use the tools we have. Therefore, in that way we improve our skills and it gets easier to understand poems.
However, the second way takes too much time, For some students it takes longer to understand poems and some miss the point of the poem analiys in in wrong direction. Moreover, the second way demans thinking tools that are easier to gain from the first way meaning it fits to the weak students
In conclusion, both of the ways are good, but each one fits other purposes. The first fits schools, in which we don’t have much time practic and the other fits those who are more advanced students with traind thinking skills who can handle poems alone.
